Introducing... Party Parade

We all have fond memories of sitting on our parents' laps as children and having them read us an amazing story, or getting our heads stuck in a book to while away the hours as a youngster. Books appeal to little ones in the same way they appeal to adults - they transport you to a whole new world and allow your imagination to run wild. But, whether we're conscious of it or not, they also teach us lessons, whether that's a more adult 'moral of the story' or something overtly educational. Regardless, we're sure you had a firm favourite as a child that has stuck with you till this day. In celebration of National Book Week, we're delighted to announce the release of our very own children's book, Party Parade! 

Counting from one to ten has never been so fun with this hide-and-seek, animal-packed picture book written by my sister Leanne and illustrated by myself. From dazzling deep blue waters to tropical jungles and snowy mountain peaks, this book will help build those precious memories with the little ones in your life and is sure to resonate with them as they find themselves enthralled by the bold and vibrant colours and the entrancing rhythm and rhyme. Needless to say, if you're looking for a book that's as fun as it is educational, we've got you covered - there are lots of animals to spot on each page, plus an extra page at the end prompting little readers to find even more animals! 

But where did it all begin? As children, Leanne and I always dreamt of using our talents to create something special together; Leanne was always dancing around making up rhymes and playing with words, whilst I could be found drawing, letting my imagination flow at my red Fisher Price table. Now, Leanne is a successful employment lawyer with a first class degree from the University of Cambridge. Her love of words continues; whether she is using them with thought and purpose in her legal career or finding a precious moment to steal away armed with a hot cuppa, a notebook, and a chance to write. Meanwhile, I founded Sara Miller London in 2016 and have amassed a collection of over 1000 products sold in 60 countries worldwide. 

Who knew it would take a global pandemic for our dream to come to life?! Back in the summer of 2020, we both - like many of us - were juggling work, childcare and family life, struggling to manage the demands of the unprecedented circumstances. Having spent months during lockdown reading endless books to our young children, we met up in the park (snacks in one hand and baby wipes in the other) creating the vision for what would become our debut book. We wanted to make something that both kids and grown-ups could enjoy together; beautiful artwork, an array of animals and landscapes, a fun 'search and find' on every page, as well as an educational thread to help children learn their numbers. Party Parade has already become a firm family favourite in our households; bringing with it colour, excitement and joy. We are so excited to share it and spread those smiles!
